L`amperometro elettrodinamico C.C. e C.A. Weston mod. 370, matr. N° 4347, è stato donato nel gennaio del 2016 dal P.I. Sig. Guido Barbieri di Modena, tramite Fabio Panfili e Stefano Luzi, e va ad arricchire la collezione del Montani. Prima parte.
La data riportata sul foglio di collaudo è 18 settembre 1931. L`ing. Claudio Profumieri, oltre a curarne con la consueta perizia l`aspetto evitando di smontarlo poiché non era necessario, lo ha sottoposto a prove tecniche osservandone il buon funzionamento.
Nel foglio che si trova all`interno del coperchio si legge:
«WESTON A. C. & D. C. AMMETER MODEL 370, No. 4347. This instrument is an electrodynamometer ammeter. It indicates INTERNATIONAL AMPERES, and if it is properly used its indications may be relied upon to within 1/4 of one per cent. of full scale value, for either direct current or alternating current of any frequency up to 133 cycles per second. It is shielded from the effect of external magnetic fields. To obtain the greatest accuracy when used on direct current, reversed reading should be taken to eliminate the effect at any residual magnetism in the shield. It is compensated for the effect of changes in temperature. The current ranges can be changed by connecting the sections of the field coil either in series or in multiple by means of links. The positions of the links for the two ranges are shown in the sketches below. Care should be taken to have the links always tightly screwed in place. Approssimate resistance of instrument, series connection….0.48….int. ohm. Approssimate resistance of instrument, multiple connection….0.18….int. ohm. Approximate self inductance of instrument, series connection…0.000,588…henry. Approximate self inductance of instrument, multiple connection…0.000,147…henry».
A sinistra, sopra lo schema si legge: “SERIES CONNECTION FOR 2.5 AMPERES NORMAL”.
A destra, sempre sopra lo schema si legge: “MULTIPLE CONNECTION FOR 5 AMPERES NORMAL”.
In basso: “Standardized at Weston Laboratory, Newark, N. J., U. S. A. Date: Sept 18 1931 Certified F.[? N.d.R.] B. Dowden. F 564 – 500 – 5 – 29”.
Per avere una portata fondo scala di 2,5 A si cortocircuitano i due morsetti a destra con l`apposito ponticello; per la portata di 5 A si realizzano due connessioni con due ponticelli come mostrato nelle foto.
